Let's talk about how a nuclear power plant works!

4. How does a nuclear power plant make electricity?

At the heart of the plant are fuel rods made of uranium. We shoot tiny particles called neutrons at these rods to make the uranium atoms split apart, releasing a lot of heat in a process called nuclear fission.

This heat is used to turn water into steam, just like a kettle on the stove. The steam rushes to a turbine, pushing it and making it spin.

And as the turbine spins, it generates electricity, which is then sent to our homes, businesses, and factories through power lines.

So, from uranium fuel rods to spinning turbines, that's how a nuclear power plant powers our world!
